01. BATHROOM + REST AREA
As part of the No-Stop Apartment HEAD-PMF-System workshop, the projects developed explore the ability of furniture to generate new spatialities within the open, indeterminate volumes characteristic of industrial spaces. In keeping with this logic of continuity and hybridization of uses, one project proposes to reconfigure the bathroom as a spatial device in its own right.
Taking advantage of the generous height of the site, the bathroom is raised to create a form of intimacy within an initially open space. This vertical distance redefines the relationship between functions, by introducing a stratification of uses rather than compartmentalization. The space below then becomes a place of rest, conceived as an extension of the bath, forming a coherent whole dedicated to body care and well-being.
The project assumes a technical aesthetic, echoing the industrial character of the site, while seeking to soften it through choices of materiality and ambience. The visible, assertive structure helps to organize the space, while the textures, light and proportions help to humanize the experience. In this way, the device is not limited to fulfilling a function, but offers a sensitive, contemporary interpretation of living in an industrial context.
